(Almost) Past President’s Press Conference

Past: adj.  previous, prior

President: n. the Current sociopathic Occupant – only 7 more days!!!!

Yesterday W gave his last formal presser as Current Occupant. And it was a doozy of denial. Here are my three favorite excerpts (“favorite” meaning “WTF??? – did he really say that??”):

On mistakes:

Clearly putting a “Mission Accomplished” on a aircraft carrier was a mistake … Obviously, some of my rhetoric has been a mistake.

Uh, yeah – like  “rhetoric” was the only problem…

Or, if not mistakes, disappointments:

Abu Ghraib obviously was a huge disappointment during the presidency. Not having weapons of mass destruction was a significant disappointment. I don’t know if you want to call those mistakes or not, but they were — things didn’t go according to plan, let’s put it that way.

Me too. I was sooo disappointed there weren’t any WMDs. And that those renegades soldiers at Abu Ghraib got found out.

On the need to restore our moral standing in the world:

It may be damaged amongst some of the elite …  My view is, is that most people around the world, they respect America. And some of them doesn’t like me, I understand that — some of the writers and the, you know, opiners and all that. That’s fine, that’s part of the deal. But I’m more concerned about the country and our — how people view the United States.

It’s gonna be a rude awakening when you get out from that bubble George. Or maybe not – maybe we’ve misunderestimated the depth of your denial.

One response to “(Almost) Past President’s Press Conference

  1. Today on NPR one of the stories was about the new house George and Laura will be moving to in Dallas. One of the soon to be neighbors was gushing over Bush:”We’re so proud of him, he’s been such a great president”. Sounds like he’s moving the bubble of denial with him, and will never have to come out. Unless we find some way to bring him, Cheney and Rove to trial. (Have you ever noticed how Cheney, Rove and Limbaugh look alike? Like evil triplets?)
